A: Yes! Please go to your local post office as soon as possible to start this process, or check this link for more information. http://www.usps.com/passport/

Q: Does my student need any immunizations?
A: Please check the CDC website 2 months before departure. We recommend that you follow the CDC website, and contact your doctor to discuss needed vaccinations. http://wwwnc.cdc.gov

Q: How will the tour group get around in Australia and New Zealand?
A: An expert Tour Director will be with your group every step of the way, providing constant and immediate guidance. They have been fully trained to handle any safety situations that may arise. EF's staff visits each and every hotel to ensure it meets safety and security guidelines.

Q: Will I be able to get ahold of my child during the trip? And will he be able to get ahold of us?
A. Yes, phone contact and email will both be available as ways to stay in contact with your children. We will talk more about these options at the parent meeting.

Q: Does my student need a credit or debit card? How should we go about providing access to money?
A: No pre-paid cards (gift). As of now, you do not need to have a pin number for your credit card, this will be waived. You need to call your credit card/debit card/bank and let them know the dates that you will be traveling in Australia and New Zealand before leaving. We recommend Capital One because historically, they have had no foreign transaction fees - you should check with them to confirm this policy. It is a good idea to send your student with both an ATM and Credit Card; we advise having a discussion with them about the purpose of the card and let them practice using it before they leave.

Q: Visas? How do they work?
A: We will discuss the Visa application at an upcoming parents meeting. All questions and concerns should be directed to Mr. Ewen or Mr. Schagrin.

Q: Summer School? How do we get credit?
A: You must be registered through the district website, follow the link for summer school registration. Choose the first option for Australia/New Zealand Summer School - there is a $25 savings for paying online. If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Schagrin.

Q: Luggage?
A: More information will be posted as we recieve flight information, but all students should plan to pack in Carry-On style. One larger Carry-On and small backpack.
-also check the packing list link on the left side of the screen

Q: Skype?
A: We will train you on how to use this at the next parents meeting. Skype is a way of making phone calls through your computer - way to save money.

Q: Should you bring small items to trade/gift?
A: If you'd like, you may bring a few small key chains or trinkets, but this is not something that we are aware of. If we hear or are advised of something different, we will let you know.

Q: Are you concerend keeping the large group together?
A: We are taking a few precautions to ensure that students are safe while traveling. Students will always be traveling in pods with a teacher that they are use to working with - there will be set pod traveling groups throughout the trip. All students will be given laminated cards that have basic phrases and important phone numbers in the event that they get split up.

Q: Medications. What are they allowed to have/not have?
A: The teachers need to be made aware of ALL medications that are being taken by students. Teachers should have copies of all perscritptions that are being taken by students. Please make sure you contact the teacher of any concerns regarding medication - if there is a condition that requires routine medication that could affect the safety of your student, please set up an appointment with one of the teachers to discuss. Students should carry normal over the counter medications with them, such as medications for headahces, stomach aches, etc.

UPDATED INFORMATION ABOUT TRAVELING WITH MEDICATION:

Traveling with Medications
When medications are necessary for travel, it is important to remember the following:
·

Original containers:
All medications should be carried in their original containers with clear labels, so the contents are easily identified. Although many travelers like placing medications into small containers or packing them in the daily-dose containers, officials at ports of entry may require proper identification of medications.
·

Prescriptions:
Travelers should carry copies of all prescriptions, including their generic names.
·

Physician notes:
For controlled substances and injectable medications, travelers are advised to carry a note from the prescribing physician on letterhead stationery.
·

Restricted medications:
Travelers should be aware that certain medications are not permitted in certain countries. If there is a question about these restrictions, particularly with controlled substances, travelers are recommended to contact the embassy or consulate of the destination country.
·

Availability:
A travel health kit is useful only when it is available. It should be carried with the traveler at all times (e.g., in a carry-on bag). Due to airline security rules, sharp objects and some liquids and gels must remain in checked luggage.
